Looking to train to teach in Leicester or Leicestershire? Achieve with TELA is an established school-based Initial Teacher Training provider offering a high-quality School-Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) programme leading to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a PGCE.

As lead delivery partners with Futures Teaching Alliance and Teach First, we work with a network of primary and secondary schools across Leicester and Leicestershire to provide aspiring teachers with exceptional school-based teacher training.

Successful completion of the programme leads to:

✅ Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

✅  A Master's level Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) awarded by Sheffield Hallam University

University sessions are delivered online, allowing you to balance academic study alongside your school-based training.

To apply for our Initial Teacher Training programme, you will typically need:

• An honours degree (or predicted degree) at 2:2 or above
• GCSE English and Mathematics at Grade C/4 or above (or recognised equivalent qualification)
• GCSE Science at Grade C/4 or above (or  equivalent) for applicants applying for Primary training
• Overseas applicants will need to provide evidence of equivalent qualifications

All successful applicants will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and will need to meet the requirements for safe working in schools.

Our interview process is designed to help us get to know you and to give you the opportunity to demonstrate your potential to become an outstanding teacher.

Interviews take place within our partner schools across Leicestershire and typically include:

Working with Pupils

You will complete a short activity with a small group of pupils, allowing us to see how you engage with young people and communicate ideas effectively.

Reading Task

You will complete a short reading activity that helps us assess your ability to interpret information and communicate your understanding.

Formal Interview

The interview provides an opportunity for us to explore your motivation for teaching, your understanding of education and your potential to be a great teacher

To help you prepare, we share our interview questions in advance. We want you to feel confident and informed about what to expect on the day.
